Workgroup

Acarological research has a long tradition in Graz: mainly soil mites have been studied here since the beginning of the seventies of the last century. The focus of our working group is systematics (describing of new species, study of phylogenetic relationships), but also functional morphology, ecology and zoogeography.

The working group Acarology is an integral part of the study group Biodiversity and Evolution of the Institute of Biology. Our scientific work is reflected not only in lectures and courses, but also in publications in international scientific journals, in the organisation of meetings and in granted research projects.
